Analysis details for a PubMed Commons comment regarding “I’ll Have One of Each”: How Separating Rewards Into (Meaningless) Categories Increases Motivation

This page provides additional material describing the analyses in a PubMed Commons comment by Greg Francis regarding an article published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology claiming that people were more motivated to obtain rewards from two different categories than from a a single category.

Details of the power estimation is provided in a zip package. When unpacked there will be a directory called PowerEstimates. Inside is an Excel file that calculates effect sizes and records estimated power values. Also included is R code that was used to estimate power with simulated experiments for a few cases.
