Psychology 240-- Recitation Syllabus – Spring 2000

Policies and Schedule

Goal:

Recitations will be used to serve 3 primary purposes:

(1)Supplement and review lecture material as needed or requested

(2)Provide in-class and hands-on demonstrations of important social psychological concepts

(3)Serve as a forum for developing and carrying out group research projects

Attendance, participation, and grades:

Your grade in recitation directly constitutes 5% of your overall course grade. However, your attendance and participation in recitation also indirectly affect your overall course grade in two ways: (a) exams may cover material presented and reviewed in recitation, and (b) your research paper will be based on group activities conducted during recitation throughout the semester (you will be given specific grading criteria for this assignment soon).

Attendance in recitation is mandatory and participation is expected.During 12 of the weeks, attendance will be taken near the end of the hour. You must be there 10 of the 12 times to get full credit. For every absence after the 2 “freebies,” you will lose ½% of the 5% that constitutes your attendance grade.
