Here are the courses I regularly teach.
This general education core course offers a survey of the field of psychobiology which is intended
for students who are not majoring in psychology. When I teach it (in the Spring), a
recurring theme is the relation between brains and digital computers.
PSY 320 - Brain and Behavior: Sensation and
Arousal
This Fall course is intended for psychology majors. It reviews cellular
neurophysiology and neuroanatomy and then examines the relation of nerve cell function to behavior
with the emphasis on sensation, perception, cognition, and states of consciousness.
This Spring course teaches students with no prior background in
electronics how to record bio-electric signals as well as how to understand the
principles of electrophysiology.
This Fall seminar reviews a specific topic of current interest in
psychobiology. A hyper-linked description of each upcoming topic will be available during registration.
This occasional Fall course reviews the field of sensory coding with
emphasis on its origins and the historical development of its central
concepts.
